The ship-of-the-line mercury marine barometer with gimbals is hand crafted to an original design dating from 1840.

A superb instrument originally designed for use on sailing ships by the British Navy in the 19th century. The genuine mahogany casing is complimented with ebonised edge line. A silver-plated dial provides the backing for a sliding vernier for reading and recording measurements, with another for weather descriptions. On the lower half of the instrument a spirit thermometer indicates temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit.
